Selecting a weight belt for snorkeling

– Get weight belt of about 10lbs and put it over the wet suit that you will wear when you go snorkeling.

– Bend it side to side and forward and back. That belt must rest on your hips and it should be comfortable.

– Be sure that you can release it easily in emergency case.

– Contact your local dive shop to see what number of pounds should have your weight belt according to your wetsuit.

– Before you go to snorkeling you should test your weight belt and wet suit.

Tips and warnings

If you feel that you can not float easily you should add a few pound of weight.

If you have too little weight it can cause that your head bump on the top of caves and you will very tired during the snorkeling.

Your weight belt should be on the top of your equipment. It should be the first equipment that you will release in case of emergency.

If you have too much weight on your belt it will make swimming on the surface harder.

Snorkeling can be dangerous and cause crush injuries and even death. You can seek for proper training to avoid any inconvenience.
